Free and Reduced Price Meals are available to all families in our district. Please, unless you are absolutely certain you do not qualify for free or reduced price meals, submit an application. Paper applications are in the first Focus, sent home with elementary students the first week of school and can also be printed here on our Meal Applications page. Completed forms can be returned to any school office, but for faster processing, sent directly to the Food and Nutrition Services office at the Middle School, 360 Division St.
You will be notified by mail of your child's status. Until notification you must provide your child with a lunch or lunch money.
June's eligibility is used for the first 30 days of the new school year. Please return your new application or submit online by October 1st each new school year to ensure processing before the expiration.
Only complete one application per family. The confidential information you give will be used to determine not only eligibility for free and reduced price meals, but also funding for all student programs. To maximize funding for Hamburg Central Schools, we MUST maximize the number of family applications.
NYS automatically certifies families that qualify for free meals through SNAP and Medicaid. If you receive a letter from us at the end of August certifying your household for free meals you do not have to submit an application. Benefits extend to all children of the household. Please contact us if any students are missing on the letter.
Factors considered in the application process are household size and total household income. HOUSEHOLD SIZE is considered all persons, related or unrelated: including parents, children and grandparents who live in your home and share living expenses. The TOTAL HOUSEHOLD INCOME is the income each household member received last month before taxes - this includes wages, social security, pension, unemployment, welfare, child support, alimony, and any other cash income from household members that contribute to the household.
Foster children are categorically eligible for free meal benefits. Please check the Foster Child box on the application next to grade/teacher. Foster children may be included in the household application as part of the household size.
